I was excited about this day because I am gonna meet my friends from Computer Engineering Faculty when I was in NUS.. My girl gang consists of Ting Ting, Ruyi and Shi Hui.. .As usual, I am always the early one to reach.. Subsequently, I met Ting Ting at Bugis. We choose a nice place for our dinner, Sketches Pasta and Wine Bar.. The unique part about this restaurant is that you get to design your own pasta. Just Pasta alone, you can mix a maximum of 3 different types. As for Sauce, obviously you choose one so that you won’t make a mess out of your own design! For condiments, you get to choose 5 different ones maximum and any additional ones, you got to pay for it.. Not very expensive though. So the three of them has pasta and I had a salad.. need to go on diet urgently.. haha
Ting ting is married to Yingfei (one of our faculty mates) on the 6th June 2007. How sweet! Anyway, she is really beautiful with all the make up, even though she looks real good without any. Time passes very fast.. 2 years ago, we are struggling to get our degree and worrying if we will get ourselves a good job and land ourselves in the right career path. Now, the girls are ready to get married and take on new roles in life.. Looking back at my life, I wonder what I have achieved so far.. I was talking to Ginny one of these days about our achievements since we left school. It seems like we did not do much but yet 2 and half years are gone in a blink… For me, I enjoy working life.. You get income and most of the time, doing more constructive stuff than what I think you do in school. You get to enjoy the best of life at the prime stage and being young is of course the greatest feeling ever in the entire lifetime. What I hate about working life is the loss of my freedom. I almost sold myself and my youth to the company. I do not enjoy the idea of being stucked in an office from 8am to 530pm. I wish to have more time to do more things. Basically, it means no commitments if you want to put it that way.
I often dreamed of working overseas (anywhere) and back packed as I worked. I do not need to see the ugly side of corporate world. I earned what I need just to keep me alive. However, I can enrich my life by immersing myself into the different cultures and societies and discover the beauty of human civilization, about how similar and yet different we are. People say that this is a waste of life. What about people who spent the whole lifetime chasing after fame, status, money and position when in the first place, you have come to this world with nothing? Even at the point of death, you bring along nothing with you to the afterlife.. This is however, difficult to achieve because all of us has got burdens and responsibilities which we cannot let go.. The responsibility to support our parents, the commitments to our partners and in time to come, your own children which we cant and are unable to let go.
Anyway, I am drifting too far away from the main topic. Ting Ting has to join her family for a short dinner so the rest of us decided to go to this nice place for drinks. I suggested Villa Bali and we went to the place. On our way there, I was not too familiar with the roads but I know it is near old SAJC. So Shi Hui realized that we just passed the gate and Ruyi decided to make a U-turn at a road junction. Upon the U-turn, we saw an oncoming car from far ahead. Nevertheless, we decide to make the turn. We turned very slowly, keeping ourselves to the most inner lane. However, this stupid male driver just decided to step on his accelerator and speeding while he was on his second lane. When he realized that we were turning, he purposely drove very very near to us just to provoke and show us that he is angry with us making a turn at that point of time. I swear that he has the time to react accordingly.
Either he could have gone a bit slower or he could have shift to the 3rd lane! That asshole simply drove so near to us that if we wind down the windows, I can put my hands out to slap both sides of his cheeks! We kept staring at him and he decided to do a ridiculous stunt. He quickly sped up and cut in front of us. Straight after he did that, he stepped on his brake hard and luckily, Ruyi is attentive enough to brake hard too. If not, we would have banged right into his car. This is the first time I have ever seen such a rude, ungentlemanly, petty and loser driver. Somemore, his car is only a VIOS. First time, I ever see a guy driving a VIOS and still so aggressive. Hello man, you are not driving a super car. He drives as if he can’t wait to queue for his next life. I am sure what we did, did not put him in danger or hazardous to any drivers. I still remember the car though. It is a black VIOS with car plate S** 7044 T. Cannot stand it.. It is just one of the ugly sight of Singapore drivers being so impatient and rude.
Anyway, forgetting about him, we had a nice time cursing and swearing behind his back. It is still nice to meet up once in awhile. As usual, I am the super complain queen and my friends are always the sweet audience listening to me. Sometimes, I realized that I am complaining most of the time because there isn’t really much to talk about unless you talked about philosophy, stars and constellation, world news and conservation? I guess not many people will talk about such topics. So when we make complains, we make some conversations and it is a way to see how people treats and reacts to your complaints!
