28/04/07 The Wedding Proposal
Day 2: We woke up as early as 630 am because Dear’s mum really wake up damn early.. she keep calling us and we just got to wake up.. we bathed and had breakfast at the hotel.. their breakfast was unusual as it consists of plain porridge, vegetables, ham and eggs, some canned like food like braised peanuts and glutton… but it was quite nice.. we are ready to set off for our next destination.. As we have the parents around, it was uncomfortable to bring them to amusement parks so the trip became very much of sightseeing and shopping and eating.. we asked the hotel counter and she provided us with some destinations to go.. I had planned to go North today.. So we will go to Yang Ming Shan then followed by Dan Shui and we will ride home.. The lady told us to take a bus 260 to Yang Ming Shan… Our first time taking the local bus.. Their buses have fewer seats, unlike Singapore.. You need to know when to pay for the bus fare.. The simple rule: the bus driver has a red sign board above them. The sign board will read: Boarding pay, Exiting pay.. So when you board the bus and you see that the sign is alerted, please tap the easy card or pay in exact cash. When you board the bus and the sign is not alerted, you do not pay at all.. When exiting and the sign is alerted, then please tap your card. Otherwise you do not need to tap..
We walked around Yang Ming Shan…The park is really big… but it was a bad weather to make our way there as it was getting cloudy and a storm is brewing.. While waiting for a bus to finish up the Yang Ming Shan tour, it started to rain cats and dogs.. we went to hide in a shelter which was right beside a small museum to show the development of Yang ming shan.. The highest peak is the 7 Star mountain which is almost impossible for normal people to climb up as it is rather slippery and wet at the top.. we had a meat dumpling.. I shared one with my dear dear.. it was nice! After that, we quickly waited for the bus to bring us down to the foot of the mountain…it was very packed but the skilled driver make it a short and fast one.. Well done! At the foot of the mountain, we were heading towards our next destination and that is Dan Shui Lao Jie.. it is at the end of the Northern Metro line.. quite far but we planned the journey such that we will cover all directions in 4 days! Upon reaching Dan Shui, we once again saw the all familiar food streets..selling about the same thing and all of us had too much junk food in the stomach.. I am so excited about going to Dan Shui especially the Lovers’ Bridge… Chris told me that the bridge is beautiful and romantic!! Hahaha
We walked around the streets .. had bubble tea, cuttlefish, cuttlefish balls and played some games before we decided to head towards the jetty for our boat ride to Dan Shui.. It was quite near to the Fisherman’s Wharf.. I wanted to try the famous Ah Gei..but cant seem to find it and I got to give it a miss! We came to Lover’s Bridge.. itz a very simple structure.. not really fantastic but itz a different bridge afterall.. we had a walk along the bridge and decided to settle at a seafood restaurant for our dinner before we call it a day.. the food was delicious.. I can still vividly remember that the waitress asked dear’s mum if I am the youngest daughter and she commented that I am a pretty girl..haha dear’s mum responded saying I am the girlfriend and the waitress couldn’t believe that I am more than 18 years old.. *flattered* haha
We took more pictures at the Bridge and had started to walk back to the jetty for our return.. Dear stopped me and said, “huh, what a waste to just walk along the bridge and go back.. why not we just stay awhile more on the bridge?” so I said ok and I was wondering when did my Baby become more romantic.. haha anyway, after saying that, he asked his parents to take a seat at the end of the bridge if they were tired.. so they did.. while we were staying on the bridge enjoying the breeze, dear dear asked mi if I remember the day he forgot to bring my passport.. and I said yes I did.. so he asked mi if I know the reason why he has forgotten.. and he started explaining the fact that he was hurrying to buy mi that.. he held up his hands and exhibit a diamond ring on his fingers.. I was so surprised and yes, I am elated.. However, in my heart, I still cant help but think that he treats his parents more impt than I do.. he popped the question.. “ Will you marry me?” and I said, “ before saying anything, what’s my position in your heart?” obviously, he said number 1.. I told him that u said it and u must do it.. make sure I am always number 1.. that’s his first promise to me..I nodded my head to his proposal.. and we kissed.. hmm…slightly out of my expectations with no flowers and kneeling.. but anyway, his sincerity is enough to overcome that.. he wanted to propose to mi on our anniversary , 29th April.. exactly one year since we have been together… but he cant missed the beautiful Lovers’ Bridge.. and so it was 364 days since we are together.. we have been through not a lot..a year is short..but sometimes, the length of time is not everything.. I guess both of us are comfortable with one another and we want to live together to share our lives..most importantly, we found the most important person who meant the world to each of us..
His parents obviously knew the plot and they were smiling when they saw mi… dear dear says I am not supposed to take down this ring no matter what.. he joked and asked mi , what happen if someone blows up this bridge.. I say I will protect this bridge because it is our bridge… haha although my ring is smaller than what most girls will have for their proposal ring, I am at times satisfied that it is the man I am marrying that matters to me the most.. dear dear says this one is only for now and he will buy mi a bigger one when he has got more money next time.. hee
We took a ferry back and head back to hotel as we are all tired from these few days of walking.. haha..
