Day 1: All of us were excited about this trip.. Dear dear and his parents will be leaving for Taipei first.. taking SQ flight departing at 810.. all of us wake up early for the day and I wanted to see them leaving the house before I get back to more rest.. his father was shocked to realize that I wasn’t taking the same flight as them.. but I assured him that I will be fine there and not taking the same flight because I need to clear off some work in the morning.. so I went back to sleep until 9 plus..
I woke up to send some emails to my boss so that everything is handed over properly. I went for breakfast and started counting down for my turn to fly.. I took a cab to the airport and waited for my turn to board the plane.. I am alone.. I preferred to be on the plane alone.. although you may feel lonely at times but I still feel at ease when I am boarding the plane alone.. I took EVA airline and the aircraft was a Airbus 340. The stewardess were very nice.. On the aircraft, they make announcements in 3 different languages mainly Hokkien, English and Mandarin.. First time I heard announcement in Hokkien. The food was nice and the trip was only 4 hours plus.. Not too bad.. At Taoyuan International Airport, I forgot to fill in the disembarkment form.. Fortunately, a nice auntie helped me to queue up while I went to take a card and filled it up.. I sms dear dear to say I have reached and he gave me directions to take the connecting bus to go to Taipei… It was kinda fun to be in Taipei..On the way to Taipei, I saw a lot of betel nuts babes.. Some wore very skimpily.. in fact, most of them does.. I wonder if the young generation in Taipei still chew on betel nuts.. I was afraid to miss the stop and in the end, I did pressed the bell at the wrong stop.. I thought I could have just missed it but the driver was shouting and refused to drive off.. So I walked down the upper deck and told him that I pressed the wrong bell.. He was not very friendly to me at all.. He asked me to check properly next time before I pressed.. It was so embarrassing.. The bus ride took me about 45mins and I finally got off the right stop.. Looking around and not knowing what to do, suddenly someone hugged me from behind.. It is my darling.. haha he offered to take my luggage to the hotel first while we will go to Shi Lin night market as our first stop! They had a lot to eat since the afternoon they were here.. Mark brought them to Long Shan Temple.. Travelling was convenient in Taipei with their advanced metro technology.. The train stations are very similar to Singapore so I am sure most of us can make our way around the place with the metro…
We first arrived at Zhong Shan Jie Yun Zhan which is near our hotel and bought our Easy card..it has a value of 200 (NT) and 40 NT deposit fees.. you can use it for bus and metro and get some discounted traveling.. So much like Singapore Ezlink card.. We were so excited about our new destination and his parents told me that they have been eating junk food since arrival.
We went to Shi Lin nightmarket.. The first thing we had was a drink.. I had Bubble milk tea and dear dear ordered a Jelly beancurd with grass jelly.. it did not taste as good as they show it on TV.. then we move on to look at some snacks.. there are so many little food stalls in the whole night market.. but the food they sell were about the same. So we decided to settle at one stall to try their oyster omelets.. It is different from Singapore because it is less crispy more oily and had a peanut-chilli sauce upon serving.. They also include vegetables into the omelette as well.. Then we had also a Sheng Chao Hua Zhi which actually means Squid soup.. the soup was very thick and a lot of cabbages in it.. the squid were actually big and tough.. hence, not easy to chew on it.. we then went around and saw a biscuit shop selling peanut snacks… we bought quite a few back so that we can give to our family and relatives.. almost reaching the end, we bought a Hong You Chao Shou (Meat dumplings in red chilli oil).. Itz superb.. very nice.. along the way, we also smell a lot of rubbish chute –like smell.. itz actually the famous Chou Dou Fu (smelly beancurd).. but the smell really puts u off… dunno why so many Taiwanese love it.. Dear tried one and said it feels like eating warm rubbish.. haha so I dun dare to try after he said tat.. we walked along the streets , bought fruits to chew and a lot of things to see… there are more food stalls along the way.. I guess Taiwanese are really fortunate coz they have got big markets like these to walk around…really crowded.. haha after that, we called it a day and decided to go back to hotel for a rest..
We stayed in a 3-star hotel called Rosemary Hotel.. Itz in a red-light district and some ktv pubs around the area but at the main road, it is where the major shopping centres are.. the Taiwanese girls dressed up themselves and really a pleasure to just look at them.. They are very friendly people and love to help people a lot.. Mi and dear dear stayed in one room and his parents stayed in the other.. hee 2 person’s world.. should have brought my mum along so that she will be able to have fun with us too…
